Training And Courses

ARCHEAN provides training and professional development to the mining and exploration industry. The following courses are available. These are all customisable to client’s requirement and audience.

The course we offer include:

Sampling – We cover the basics on sampling theory, but with a very clear focus on practical implementations. What effect does it really have on the quality of your data? We use client’s own data and focus on those sampling situations that are important to our client.

The ARCHEAN QA/QC course is designed with practical implementation in mind. We don’t just simply throw some theory at our attendees and send them home with a booklet. We work with your data and drill down on cultural issues that commonly prevent theory from being implemented in practice. You can insert standards and blanks but if you don’t analyse the data then you’re just wasting money. It is useful for team leaders or mid-level managers partake in this course as it will open their eyes to the potential cost saving and optimisation opportunities. These will need to be planned and budgeted for properly and therefore it is not just about sending your geos to do a course, this is a holistic process!

Geology in decision-making and estimations – At ARCHEAN we believe strongly in a thorough understanding of geology driving the confidence in estimations and ultimately the decision making. It has been shown too often that leaving the geology off the map and just drilling holes for grade data leads to very poor models, poor estimations and poor decisions based on these models. This course is designed to give attendees a clear framework to bring the geology back into the risk-assessment process. We focus on proper data collection (pit-mapping, core logging, face-mapping skills) and then how to efficiently translate these into interpretations that can be used as a basis for modelling.
